Bean & Boy

Soap bars - a product a few years ago I wasn't really a fan of, the main reason was because the bars I had come into contact with in the past always seemed so overly perfumed and as a result always dried out my skin - even the sensitive ones. In the last year or so I branched out from cruelty-free shower gels and washes to soap bars. I had two motives behind this change, one - I wanted to wash myself with a natural product, with minimal ingredients that was kind to my skin, there is so much junk in a lot of shower gels its just not necessary. Two, the plastic waste I was producing because of the shower gel bottles added up quite a bit and again, I felt I could easily avoid this so I decided to make the change. I have found some cracking brands that offer great soap bars like Marie's Artisan Soap's and Living Naturally, but this year I stumbled across a new brand that's on my very own doorstep - Bean&Boy

I got in touch with Stacey (the brains behind the soap creations) to see if she wanted to collaborate and the following week I had three lovely smelling soap bars on my doorstep. I received the Simple Soap (fragrance free, £4.50), Peppermint&Coffee (£4.95) and Activated Charcoal* (£4.95) this was the one I was particularly interested in trying - I had heard so many good things about activated charcoal soap I couldn't wait to try it. Skin really needs to be nourished as much as possible, it's really easy to upset the PH balance of your skin and dry it out even though you may be using a sensitive product, I can say this from experience! I certainly have noticed the difference in my skin since using more natural skincare products so I'm never going back - EVER!

Simple Soap (min 110g bar) - this was exactly what it said on the label, I really wanted to try a fragrance free bar - even though I usually go for fragrance free one there are still some of those sensitive bars that react badly with my skin (temperamental much!) so it's good to test them out. This was a really nice plain soap, no scent - just the natural ingredients. This didn't react with my skin at all (even in the extra sensitive areas, which is good because lets be honest ladies - that can STING like hell) and it also didn't dry my skin out. So this sensitive soap has gone on the PERFECT FOR ME list. (Ingredients: avocado oil, shea butter, caster oil, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil (responsibly sourced)).

Peppermint&Coffee (110g bar) - Peppermint and coffee is a combination I had only come into contact with in a loose body scrub but I am a huge fan of both of those ingredients and smells. This was definitely an exfoliating bar rather than an every day soap but it was blooming fantastic at exfoliating! It is quite rough but that's the ground coffee beans working their magic and without sounding too pervy - I quite like it rough! It smelt really fresh and made my skin feel lovely and smooth after as well as looking refreshed. A really good exfoliating soap. (Ingredients: Peppermint essential oil, fresh coffee grounds, avocado oil, shea butter, caster oil, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil (responsibly sourced)).

Activated Charcoal Soap (110g bar) - now this is one that I was particularly interested in trying and in all honestly, I am ecstatic with the results. I had read of the benefits of charcoal soap, it's supposed to bring any impurities toxins to the surface for a deep clean. Charcoal soap also helps with all kinds of skin conditions like acne, eczema and it's supposed to be generally great for sensitive skin. I was so surprised at how much I LOVED this soap, it lathers up like the other soaps (yes there is a black tinge to the bubbles but it leaves NO black residue on you at all) and it feels so super soft on my skin. This soap also has a very neutral smell and I would almost call it fragarance free. I had no reaction to this whatsoever and I think out of all three this is my favourite bar. This soap not only cleans brilliantly but it has made my skin feel great and so soft - thank you Bean&Boy! (Ingredients: activated charcoal, avocado oil, shea butter, caster oil, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil (responsibly sourced)).

I am so happy I came across this brand, I really loved these products - some really nice high quality soaps. With the various independent brands I have discovered over the last few years there seems to be so much love and care put into their business and the products they put out there and Bean&Boy is no different. It really is a joy to get involved with Stacey and her soaps and I am only too happy to shout about a brand with strong ethics and great products. Bean&Boy also consider the effect they have on the environment (as well as making your skin feel amazing), they use a mix of recycled, recyclable and biodegradable packaging - even the string wrapped around the soap is biodegradable! Totally great and another pull for me.

I will definitely be making Bean&Boy purchase in the future - I need to stock up on the charcoal soap for sure. If you have any questions for Stacey and want to know more you can find Bean&Boy on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - go say hello!
