WELEDA - Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash
WELEDA, I initially came across this brand because of their dental hygiene range - the first try of their Plant Gel Toothpaste and I was hooked! To date, for me I have found this to be one of the best among the more natural (vegan and cruelty-free) toothpastes I have come across. Along the way I discovered that the more natural the toothpaste you wanted the less minty and foamy the toothpaste got, which is fine as long as it cleans your teeth. I tried some that I ended up not getting on with - they had a funny taste (or no taste), my teeth didn't feel clean after or ones that just didn't really cut it for price and quality of product. So, if you're looking to try a cruelty-free and vegan toothpaste check out WELEDA Plant Gel toothpaste, they do a few so I'm sure you can find one to suit you.
I have been very lucky to be able to try this fabulous product from WELEDA, their Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash* and I know what you're going to say - this product is for a baby. Well, the good thing about this particular product is that it is good for any ages, it is also extremely good for the more sensitive of skins (Which I have) so if its good enough for a baby its good enough for me!
My first thoughts on the product, it smells of sweet Almond oil and a hint of lavender - hugely relaxing (and not overpowering) as I couldn't stop inhaling it, so I can see a baby really loving bath time with this product. I used it first as a shampoo first to see if it would work with my hair type. It cleaned my hair well but because my hair is curly and dyed (obviously) my hair needs a bit more attention and conditioning but considering this product is to clean baby's hair it did a really good job cleaning my mane. This product is a creamy white colour but it's not too thick, sometimes I find if its a body wash with more of a creamy texture it can go a bit gluey sometimes and be hard to foam up. This however, foamed up nicely and a little really goes a long way, what I really noticed about this wash was how soft it was on my skin - it seemed to moisturise me while also cleaning. When I got out of the shower my skin still felt soft and wasn't dry at all, I didn't have to put moisturiser on after which was a huge bonus.
I can imagine this being the perfect product for a baby and too be honest it's great all round product for adults. For me, it worked best as a body wash, it was really nice having something that was initially made for the most sensitive of skins (baby's) and knowing it won't hurt mine in anyway. This Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash costs £7.50 for a 200ml tube, I used this every day and it lasted me nearly two months. This product is of course free from any nasty or harmful chemicals, there are no synthetic preservatives, colourants or raw materials derived from mineral oils and it is fully cruelty-free and suitable for vegans. The tube is also recyclable (do check your local recycling though because I know certain area's don't take certain plastics - for some reason!) so good for planet as well as your skin.
