I have been lucky enough to be able to try some ARBONNE products recently and this is one of my favourite, ARBONNE Ultra - Hydrating Hand Cream*. I think hand cream is one of the top products I go through like water all year round, in the winter like most people my skin needs a bit more tlc so I generally go through double the amount. I had heard of ARBONNE because of their cruelty-free ethics, they are Vegan Society certified & they are on the PETA US certified cruelty-free list. Everyone will be happy (as I was) to hear they have never tested their products or ingredients on animals in their 35 years of business (and of course never plan to) and they NEVER use ingredients derived from animals. ARBONNE is also -
- Gluten Free
- Mineral Oil & Liquid Paraffin Free (Mineral Oil is a by product of crude oil and can be found in HUGE number of products on the shelves, Liquid Paraffin is also in most products and can be incredibly bad & toxic for your skin).
- Parabens Free
- Dyes & Chemical Fragrances Free (all their fragrances are botanical & natural)
There is a whole list of ingredients they don't work with, you can see it on their 'Ingredient Policy'.
So, what do I initially think about ARBONNE? Firstly, I love that their ingredients list & policies are so easy to find on their website. With so many companies it seems like you have to go through the Krypton Factor on their websites to get a really simple answer on ingredients & sourcing, but thankfully that is not the case with this brand. I like the packaging, simple & sophisticated and it really echo's that this is high-end, quality product. There's no fancy jargon on the front to confuse (or annoy) you (which ultimately puts me off using something if the brand is trying too hard). I already love the cruelty-free credentials this company has so I'm going into trying this product with a positive mindset already.
The smell hit me as soon as I flipped the lid, what a fantastic herb smell! Their are many ingredients in this hand cream (a long list of lovely natural ingredients) a concoction of oils & extracts from plants, herbs, roots & fruit - and boy can you smell it. It smells gorgeous - a scent of fresh, earthy elements with a hint of Orange/Citrus too. These mix extremely well and make for a very pleasant scent, I couldn't wait to see how effective it was. It comes out nice and thick (sometimes too liquid a hand cream just lingers and I find myself wiping the excess off) and it goes on extremely smoothly. I did think as it was quite thick it may not soak in that well or take ages so I couldn't pick anything up for an hour. To my delight, this soaked in super quick and what I really loved - it left no sticky or oily residue (I hate leaving my hand & finger prints everywhere like a DNA sample book because of a hand cream product). This cream is quite concentrated so you don't need to overload your hands with it. I have had a particular problem this winter season with dry skin on my little finger & inbetween this and my next finger (completely random I know but these are area's for me that seem to really suffer in the colder months) and I have to load on hand cream 4/5 times a day to help soothe this (also so I don't look like my hands are 100 years old). I did a test for three days with this Ultra - Hydrating Hand Cream and the results - well I only had to apply twice a day (which is standard for normal skin I'd say) and my hand got so much better from it. An all round hand life saver!
So overall I'm VERY happy with this cream and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try it because it has done my hands the WORLD of good. I am now squeezing the last bits out of the tube so I will definitely be looking into purchasing some more. This Ultra - Hydrating Hand Cream costs £21.00 for a 118 ml tube (and as I've said previously - a lot goes a long way so It's a great investment). To purchase you can head over to this ARBONNE Representative page by Camilla Gray - if you have any questions she is the lady to ask!
