I have been branching out into Lush more and more since becoming cruelty-free, the added fact that all their products are Vegetarian, about 90% of their products are also Vegan Society Approved which is fantastic! While in Lush last weekend, I had picked up a few items and was in the queue ready to go.....I just so happen to glance over to the make-up section. 20 minutes later I was still in the make-up section! I must also say now the customer service I have received in Lush has been amazing every time and this occasion was no different. There was a very nice woman who took me through the Lush make-up range and she was a HUGE help.
Pre cruelty-free I used a very well known brand (i'm not going to give the animal testing company the clicking air time!) and I thought I would never find an equivalent. I then found The Body Shop make-up range, I was very happy with this range, especially the foundation. But, finding out the Lush do foundations-I couldn't resist!
Before hand I always applied my foundation with a brush, to get the best full coverage. This foundation however, does not need a brush. It comes in a small pot and you literally only need to dip the tip of your finger in a tiny bit to get enough. Obviously you can apply more if you wanted more coverage on certain areas, for example I usually put a bit more on my nose as I feel it is the most area of concern for me. As I previously mentioned I have been using The Body Shop foundation since turning cruelty-free and I thought that was a great product, but this-this is something else. This is SO light on my skin, it doesn't feel thick or cloggy, even at the end of the day. It has conditioning ingredients so it doesn't dry your skin out and it doesn't look or feel like you have a thick layer of cake on! The woman in Lush also used this particular colour supplement, she advised me that using this product actually helped clear up her skin, honestly I was skeptical. But I can confirm she spoke the truth! I had a few blemishes a week ago, and now they are virtually no existent. I do use a separate powder after applying just to keep it all in place and make sure the shine is kept to a minimum (I am an oily t-zone person). I am so happy with this foundation, you hardly need any product to get a decent coverage, its natural, Vegan and a lovely colour. Looking at my complexion with this on I feel The Body Shop was even a tad orange for me! This new foundation is just perfect for me.
I also purchased another Lush Vegan make-up product, their Mascara- Eyes Right £12
Again I had been using a Body Shop mascara, I have never been a big mascara connoisseur- as long as it doesn't make my eye lashes look clumpy or spider like It would be a good product in my eyes (or rather on them!) Also, for someone with curly hair, I have very un-curly eye lashes, so anything that can give me a bit of curl and volume is great. This Lush mascara comes in the same type of pot as their lovely eye liners. Therefore the 'handle' as it were is quite short and the mascara brush is only as big as the jar. I read a few tweets from people who have tried the mascara and they had issues with the brush, efficiency and application. However, I have had no issues, you can get to all the lashes very easily and evenly distribute to the full length of your lashes. Like other mascara's the more times you apply the bigger effect you get, I am finding for every day, one - possibly two applications is far enough for every day wear. Not only is this Mascara great, cruelty-free and Vegan but it also incredibly conditioning, my lashes are so soft, this product doesn't make my lashes feel worn.
I am incredibly happy with both of these, it's so nice to find decent make-up products, as I wear make-up everyday (unless on holiday, or where no one can see me!) its great to find products that don't feel heavy, ones that don't react with my sensitive skin and products that actually do the job!
If you're interested in trying Lush, I would say go for it. Especially there make-up range, I really want to try one of their eye liners next! I really can't recommend these two make-up products enough! If you would like to have a look at the Lush Animal Testing Policy it makes for a very interesting read!
