Preserve Toothbrush + Green People = Cruelty-Free teeth!
Making your teeth cleaning process cruelty-free is fairly easy, seeing as their are a few high street shops that sell suitable alternatives. But as I've branched out more with brands, especially natural products I have found a few other brands that have suited me better.
I changed my toothbrush (it was time) and found there were a few eco options available, I went for the soft Preserve Toothbrush. This toothbrush handle is made from 100% recycled yoghurt cups and the bristles are new nylon. You can recycle this product once you are ready for a new one too which is great! This is a great toothbrush, cleans like previous ones but has a much smaller carbon footprint!
Next - toothpaste! I'd wanted to try some of the Green People products for a while as they're a big name in cruelty-free and luckily they had a very large stall at the Just V show last month so perfect timing! All Green People products are cruelty-free & organic which is great, most are also vegan (there is also incredibly clear credentials on their packaging). If you're new to organic products, be warned they won't be the same to your previous non-organic brands (colour, texture and scent mostly will change). Toothpaste especially, I have found very few which are extremely minty like my previous brands.
I decided to play it safe to start with Green People, I have very sensitive gums - I have learnt over time I cannot have any products that have any whitening chemicals in (I've learnt this the hard & sore way!) I went for the adult toothpaste Minty Cool. Good points about this toothpaste -
- 100% Natural
- No SLS, Parabens, Artificial Colourings or Sweeteners
- Antibacterial & Anti-Microbial action
- Certified Organic
- Certified Vegetarian
- Certified Vegan
The colour of this toothpaste took me back initially, its a white tac/concrete colour but don't let that put you off! It smelt nice with a mix of Aloe Vera, Peppermint & Spearmint, I went for it! This foams up but not to the same extent of the previous non cruelty-free brands I've had. But less foaming doesn't mean less effective I can assure you (It actually means less harmful chemicals). My teeth felt lovely and clean afterwards but not with an overpowering taste which was nice. It was very pleasant - a lovely product to clean ones teeth with!
Minty Cool - £3.50 for a 50ml tube, certified vegan
Citrus & Aloe Vera - £3.50 for a 50ml tube, certified vegan
Mint Toothpaste - £3.50 for a 50ml tube, certified vegan
Fennel & Propolis -£3.50 for a 50ml tube, certified vegetarian (unsuitable for vegans because of the Propolis ingredient which is derived from Bee Hives)
This product is definitely worth the money, I have become so aware now of what I am putting on & in my body I don't mind paying for a decent, natural, organic cruelty-free & vegan product.
