I'm not going to go on and on about all the places I went for food in NYC, but I have got 1 clear favourite I would like to share with you.
Now this is a MUST, located on 1650 Broadway (51st Street) this diner is very centrally located. The unique thing about this diner is ALL the waiters & waitress' sing, yes thats right - they sing! And not just average singing, stunning singing & a lot of them work on Broadway or have done in the past! All the staff were incredibly friendly & polite, there was such a buzz about this joint too! Especially in the evening, everyone is so happy and getting into the music.
The picture on the left was my main course, a Vegan Sheppard's Pie. Ingredients included tender lentils, asparagus, white onion, squash, corn, carrots, fresh herbs, mushrooms & wild rice, celery, golden beets, with a touch of garlic and topped with whipped potatoes served on a cast iron crock. It was DELICIOUS! so yummy and possibly the best meal I had all holiday!
I couldn't resist one of their deserts before we went that evening (the slice of cake was rather larger than I had anticipated however!). The right hand side picture shows my lovely desert called The Girl Scout (100% vegan). This was a toasted coconut cake layered with chocolate ganache, fresh caramel and caramel icing, finished with more toasted coconut and fresh fudge sauce.
If you can go to this diner I would thoroughly recommend it. Such an experience and they have something for everyone on the menu!
