A natural and cruelty-free Deodorant that actually does a good job is hard to come by. I've tried a few on the way, some brands haven't cut it for me (not that I over sweat I swear!) but some more 'natural' deo's aren't that effective. My love for some time had been the solid deodorant from Lush - Aromaco (& indeed I still love this product) but I was so happy to find this new brand (for me) of deodorant on social media.
Fit Pit Deodorant is hand made by a brand called The Green Woman who is headed up by two sisters Eve & Suzanne. These two fabulous ladies have created a great brand with quite frankly an amazing ethos which I fell in love with immediately.
- 100% Organic (& pure)
- 10% of their profits are donated to work against climate change
- Free from Parabens, BPA's, Aluminium Salts (and all other nasties)
- They don't use bulking agents or unnecessary ingredients
- They NEVER use plastic in their packaging & it will always be reusable (then recyclable or compostable)
- All the deodorants are safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, during the menopause or along with any other homeopathic treatments or for people that have had any surgery around the arm/armpit area.
As you can see from the above right picture, this Deodorant is a cream rather than a liquid roll on, spray or crystal stick. I think the texture is best described as being very similar to butter cream. I hadn't used a deodorant like this before but I was extremely intrigued to find out what it was like (and how effective it was). There are three Fit Pit Deodorants, the one that I particularly got on well with was the Fit Pit Sensitive. One 100ml glass jar is a 3 month supply, you only need a pea size amount on your finger (and you apply it with your finger tips obviously) and melts on contact with warm skin. There is a very faint Aloe Vera scent too (very faint), I really like that it's not overly perfumed. Two massive plus' with this deodorant - you don't have to wait for it to dry before you put your clothes on and there are NO white stains on your clothes. If all this goodness wasn't enough, I can say honestly & truthfully say this Deodorant works. In fact, it's blooming brilliant and I LOVE it. I was trying the Fit Pit Sensitive mini jar to trial the product and half way through I ordered the bigger jar I loved it so much. This Deodorant stood the commuting test, by the end of the working day I was still b.o free (thankfully for the people on the train!).
Organic and natural products are hugely popular now (although I have come into contact with some people who still think natural & organic is hocus pocus). I have seen various articles & studies over the last few years that talk about the ingredients in the products that we use contributing to illness' etc. Personally, I think it's great to know that I'm not putting any nasty chemicals into my skin with this Deodorant (which unfortunately is the case with a lot of deo's on the market), so I know this product won't be the cause of any problems for me. This is a natural & organic product that works, one that is completely cruelty-free, vegan and effective.
The Green Woman do three Fit Pit Deodorants - Fit Pit Man*, Fit Pit Woman & the one I've been raving about - Fit Pit Sensitive. I was lucky enough to be able to try the other two types too. They did an equally good job, just with slightly different scents with the cream. I have quite sensitive skin and all three were perfectly fine with my skin (and the Fit Pit Man doesn't have a 'manly' odour to it either so anyone can use it). There are two types of sizes of Deodorants, a mini jar (25ml) which is a 3 week supply (perfect size to try the product) priced at £3 and the 100ml jar which is a 3 month supply priced at £8.00.
